Laurie Gadbois - Pottery/Mosaics

I am inspired by the unlimited possibilities of clay and the sparkle of colored glass. After many years in the culinary arts, I have recently turned my creative focus toward non-edible art forms. I use many of the same skills and tools that I used for pastries to make ceramic sculptures. Rolling pins, cookie cutters, sugar paste flower molds all create wonderful designs in clay. I enjoy the unpredictability and excitement of raku but sometimes prefer the more diverse results that can be obtained with low fire ceramics.
In my mosaic work I enjoy working with rich colors of glass in combination with mirror. Each piece comes alive with the reflection of its’ surroundings. I hope that my work brings pleasure, and inspires creativity in others.
